Principal's Message

Dear Victoria Family,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as Victoria Avenue Elementary School’s new principal.  We are one of the top performing, public elementary schools in our area!  We lead surrounding schools in the percentage of students scoring on our Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) in the areas of English Language Arts and Mathematics.  We have received positive recognition by District officials for our exemplary performance!  We proudly serve students in grades ETK through 5 to be college prepared and career ready.

Victoria Avenue Elementary School provides students with educational preparation as well as enrichment experiences so that they become well-rounded citizens who can excel academically and socially. Our academic programs include an emphasis on an individualized approach to addressing student needs and monitoring student outcomes.

Student progress and attainment of skills and standards are continuously monitored throughout the entire year.  Victoria comprehensively reviews student data to determine effectiveness of instruction provided and to measure student response to differentiation.  This is done to narrow the achievement gap and decrease academic deficiencies while at the same time providing our students with access to core content and the rigor involved in Common Core State Standards.

We have adopted a school culture that focuses on building scholars and respectful citizens.  Students wear school uniforms and are instructed on lessons in character and habits of successful young scholars.  Victoria students also engage in leadership activities, research reports and project based learning opportunities to create innovative ideas and engage in collaborative processes with their peers.

Victoria believes that involving parents in their child’s education benefits all stakeholders. As part of our Parental Involvement Plan we provide parent courses on a regular basis.  The courses are based on academic initiatives and social needs within the community.  We also have a thriving volunteer system with many parents volunteering in our warm and welcoming parent center and in classrooms.  Our parent center and volunteer activities are coordinated by our outstanding Community Representative.

If you would like more information about our school, please call, visit our website or stop by our main office.  We look forward to serving your child’s educational needs and preparing them for college and career readiness!

Respectfully,

Laura Bazan
